Learn How Long Island Headache Sufferers Find Relief Through Chiropractic Care

By Matt Chaderia

Patients with chronic headaches seeking chiropractic care is nothing new. However the development of Active Release Technique, referred to as ART, occurred somewhat recently. The therapy has been shown to effectively reduce pain associated with headaches. Long Island patients have been very pleased with Long Island Active Release Technique as a safe way to relieve their pain.

ART is an advanced method that chiropractors use to treat soft tissue adversely affected by internal scarring. Nerves, muscles, ligaments, tendons and blood vessels are all soft tissue. When scars form around the soft tissue due to trauma or repetitive motions the surrounding tissue can shorten and become weak. The affected soft tissue results in pain and may impact range of motion.

The chiropractor uses ART massage movements to break up the scars so the tendons and ligaments, etc., can function normally. There will also be relief from pain. ART has been used effectively on any body part affected by internal scarring.

This description oversimplifies ART, which has greater than five hundred specific massage movements. Each patient receives individualized care based on their health and the location of the affected area.

The Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health reported on a study done to assess the results of ART on headache sufferers. The study showed that twelve percent of absences in the workplace occurred due to employees suffering from tension headaches. The study reported that patients had significant pain relief with ART therapy.

Everyone has seen the effects of scar tissue when it occurs on the outside of the body. As scars form the skin around the wound thickens and tightens. Since the body sheds skin cells constantly the effects are reduced with time. When scarring occurs inside the body the thickening and the tightening do not diminish over time and continue to affect the surrounding areas of the body. ART will break up the scar tissue, which frees up the surrounding tissues and relieves pain. Active Release Technique effectively relieves the adverse affects of internal scarring.
